Answers to questions about the upcoming season

How many times a week do we practice?

There will be two practices a week for each squad that will run approx. 1hr and 30 minutes to two hours depending on the age of the squad. Note: Our kindergarten squad will practice 1 hour and 15 min twice a week. There may be an additional, extended practice once a month, possibly on Fridays or Saturdays. Competition cheerleading is a team sport, therefore attendance at all practices is critical and mandatory and should be your top priority. After three unexcused absences, your athlete may be dismissed from the program without refund. Please be aware that Impact Nationals competition is January 5-6th and there will be crucial practices during the holiday season between Christmas and New Years. We ask that our families please keep these practice times in mind as they plan their holiday activities. There will be no practices on Wednesdays. You will receive a copy of a calendar with all practices, competitions, and activities prior to the official start of the season. A minimum of additions and changes can be expected and will be communicated as soon as can be confirmed according to the church building usage schedule.

When are the competitions?

There will be 5 competitions and 1 exhibition this season:
October 12, 2017 – Hornets Cheerleading Exhibition at Hebron Church
October 21, 2017 – First regional competition
November 4, 2017 – Second regional competition
November 11, 2017 – Third regional competition
December 9, 2017 – Fourth competition, State Championship
January 5-6, 2018 – Fifth competition, Impact National Championship at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando, Fl.

What will my child do at practice/competitions?

Each squad will learn a 2-1/2 minute routine that consists of cheer, dance, tumbling, and stunting. Our coaches will teach the kids from the ground up (with the exception of tumbling). Each child will participate in coach-led prayer and/or devotion at each practice. We consider this to be an essential element in their training to become future leaders and role models.

How much does it cost?

$698.50 total cost.

Do you offer payment plans?

We do not offer payment plans. The registration/participation fee is a lump-sum payment, made at the time of registration.

Do you offer refunds?

We can offer a partial refund up until June 1st, amount will be determined at time of registration. After June 1st there will be no refunds.

What will I receive for the participation fee?

Professionally fitted competition uniform, competition shoes, practice uniform, competition hair bow, practice hair bow,  FCC Nationals gift(s), professional choreography, squad music mix, professional photo download, Hornets Nationals gift, cheer mix music CD, kick off clinic, program awards & certificates, athlete entry fee for all competitions, squad gift for coaches, instructional DVD, devotional book, FCC/Impact drawstring backpack, and…another awesome Hornets Cheerleading season!

Are there additional costs?

There are no other additional participation fees required, our season is all-inclusive. However, there will be optional spirit items and apparel available for sale throughout the season. Also, squads may choose to have parties that would involve a minimal cost. Hornets leadership encourages these additional costs to be kept as low as possible. Participation at these events is entirely optional. Family and friends who come to competitions as spectators will also need to pay entry fees to each of our competitions. Hornets leadership strongly encourage squads to keep all additional activities very inexpensive and make it abundantly clear that participation is not mandatory.

What additional activities are there?

During the course of the season we will have squad parties and program-wide socials. There may be opportunities for older cheerleaders to help with younger squads on an as needed basis, and as elected by coaches and Hornets leadership. The cheerleaders will also participate in several Hornets-organized mission projects during the season. Also, Hebron Baptist Church may offer opportunities for our cheerleaders to participate in community events as well.

When does the season start and finish?

Parent Meeting, Cheer Camp & Fittings – April 29th, 2017
Impact Nationals – January 5-6, 2018
Hornets awards night, January 2018

When and where can I sign up?

Open registration begins the week of March 20th for returning familes followed by public registration beginning March 27th. Space is limited, and we expect our squads to fill up quickly, so register as early as possible. Age groups will close as squads are filled, and at that time registrants will be directed to a wait list form.

When will I find out squad assignments?

Squad assignments will be emailed by May 3rd – after evaluations. Assignments are based on many criteria including age, skill level, and the number of cheerleaders registered at each age division.
